  • Elderly reported the lowest prevalence of depressive symptoms

  • Depressive symptoms was more prevalent among female adults (26%) compared to males (17%)

  • 38% of individuals below the poverty line reported depressive symptoms, while reported only 14% among the highest income group

  • The highest prevalence of depressive symptoms was among adults with less than high-school education (30%)

  • 35% of current smokers reported depressive symptoms. On the other hand, only 18% of never-smokers had depressive symptoms
